Richard discovered the bass guitar in his teens through the music of Stevie Wonder and Bob Marley. He later moved to the N.S.W north coast to study with Greg Lyon at Southern Cross Univerity. He honed his skills playing for various bands and was lucky enough to play with some of the best musicians in the area including Dave Ades (alto sax), Steve Russell (piano) and Scott Hills (drums). In 2012 Richard moved to Melbourne to study at the VCA where he learnt from the amazing Christopher Hale. Since then Richard has played in various bands around Melbourne and toured the country with different acts in a variety of styles. No matter what style he is playing, he always draws inspiration from his hero’s James Jamerson and Paul Chambers and is happiest when he sitting in the pocket with the rhythm section. He teaches from his home studio in Ivanhoe and is a staff member at Beaconhills College.

As a freelance bass player, Richard has played at Woodford Folk Festival, Melbourne Zoo TwilightsThe Blue Mountains Music FestivalUrban Country Music Festival, Wollombi Music Festival, YabunBendigo Blues and Roots Festival, Homeground Festival, Mullum Music Festival
